3/11 Tsunami Photo Project Slideshow (Kodansha)

On May 11, two months after the East Japan Earthquake, Kodansha launched a slideshow of the 3/11 Tsunami Photo Project with the soundtrack by Japanese musician/composer Sakamoto Ryuichi (4.5 minutes). The project - an English-Japanese bilingual digital book of 120 photographs taken by 14 photographers from 8 countries- includes recorded and written messages by the photographers to the victims of the earthquake and tsunami. Sakamoto donated the music titled ‘Kizuna World’ (Kizuna: bond, ties between people).

One Million People's Candle Night is Japan's Earth Hour held on the summer and winter solstice nights. It is a movement to switch off lights and enjoy a slow night by the candle light. This year's summer solstice or midsummer night is June 22. We ask everyone to switch off lights for 2hours (8-10pm), enjoy quiet music, conversation, beautiful poems, soothing teas with friends, families and loved ones. We ask you to join us in signing our petition, which  will be presented to the Japanese Government  . The Fukushima disaster has rocked the entire nation of Japan. Unable to  guarantee public safety after the Fukushima nuclear catastrophe, Japan's  bureaucracy has suddenly announced that children can now be exposed to  six times as much radiation as adult reactor workers. Sign this  EMERGENCY petition to roll back these reckless radiation limits and  protect hundreds of thousands of Japanese children from a lifetime of  cancer fear.   This is not just about Japan. What happens in Japan can set a dangerous  precedent abroad.
